The Self Employed Income Support Scheme reopened on 17 August

The second phase of the Self Employed Income Support Scheme opened on 17 August. Since then, HMRC has been contacting eligible taxpayers.

You have until 19 October to make the second claim, after which time the portal will close.

The eligibility criteria remain the same as for the first grant. But, crucially, you do not need to have claimed the first grant to be able eligible for the second grant. You will, however, need to confirm that you have been adversely affected by Coronavirus since 14 July 2020.

Individuals can continue to work, start a new trade or take on other employment. (Other employment can include volunteering or duties as an armed forces reservist without affecting eligibility.)

As with the first grant, you will need the following to confirm your eligibility and make your claim:

  • National Insurance Number

  • Self-Assessment Unique Tax Reference

  • Government Gateway User ID & Password

  • Bank Account Number & Sort Code + The address that the bank account is registered to - most likely your home or office address

When you have submitted your claim, HMRC must verify it. Following this, you should receive the money into your bank account within 6 working days.

Although we cannot make the claim on your behalf, we are here to support you. Please contact us if you need any support.
